History
Tetra Pak is one of three independent industry groups that belong to the Tetra Laval Group; the other two are DeLaval and Sidel. Tetra Laval is a private industrial group of Swedish origin headquartered in Switzerland. Dr. Ruben Rausing, the founder of Tetra Pak, was in all ways a true entrepreneur and an innovator. He motivated his people to look beyond the obvious and led the development of a unique innovation that changed the way food is distributed around the world. In 1943, Ruben Rausing had an idea that paper cartons could be used for transporting liquids. By 1950, he had perfected the technique of making airtight and liquid-proof cartons using plastic coated paperboard.
Tetra Pak Arabia Area
On the 1st July 2013, a new market company, Tetra Pak Arabia Area, was formed comprising the territories previously covered by Tetra Pak Arabia and Tetra Pak East Med (KSA, Yemen, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and Palestine.) In other words, GCC and Levant region combined into one Market company covering 12 countries, 7 locations, 1 converting factory and 1 straw factory employing 445 professionals from 35 different nationalities. By merging these 2 market companies, Tetra Pak wanted to grow, face the business challenges and build one of Tetra Pak’s top performing market companies in the world.
The carton converting factory in Tetra Pak Arabia is located in south Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Tetra Pak supplies most of the carton packaging material for Saudi Arabia and exports to customers in 24 other countries in the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
Tetra Pak Arabia’s carton converting factory operates to the same standards as any Tetra Pak factory in the world. in 2013, the factory was awarded with the 2013 Factory of the year award. The achievment was made possible through continous efforts to follow WCM (World Class Manufacturing) ,JIPM (Japanese Institute for Plant Maintenance) and TPM (Total Plant Maintenance) best practices. It is certified with environmental standards, ISO 14001 and develops additional environmental activities such as local waste recycling and energy management in order to decrease its impact on local environment and promote sound sustainability.
