Back bending Your Entire Spine

This 3 hours workshop focuses on backbending techniques designed to heal, open, and strengthen your entire spine. Jared has developed a special sequence of postures, which will allow students to better understand and open their spines.

The workshop begins with a strong vinyasa sequence that includes abdominal exercises, standing postures, and inversions. After the warm up, we will flow into basic backbending postures with an interactive lecture focusing on alignment. The lecture will focus on the lower, middle, upper, and neck spine. Jared will teach students to use all aspects of their spine so that students feel confident and safe in their backbending practice. The workshop ends with exercises that unwind the spine, savasana, and meditation.

This class is designed for all levels. Beginners are welcome!

About Backbending
Backbending is a healing practice. The compression of vertebral discs brings blood and nutrients to the spine, and allows practitioners to keep their spine healthy as they age. Backbending stimulates the nervous system and opens the front of the body, generating energy and emotional awareness.




Arm balance+ inversion

Inversions have numerous benefits for emotional, physical, and mental health. They recirculate blood, lymph, and spinal fluids in the body, while bringing strength and awareness to the arms and shoulders. Practicing inversions brings peace of mind through enhanced balance and focus and many yogis consider them to be the fountain of youth. They also develop mental clarity for sharpness through increased blood circulation and oxygen to the brain. The workshop will begin with a vinyasa style flow class to warm up the body and transition into learning correct hand, arm, and shoulder placement to create a strong foundation for a safe inversion practice. Learn proper technique and neck safety to practice shoulder stand, headstand, forearm stand, and handstand and overcome the fear of being upside down. This workshop is great for all levels of yoga practitioner.

Hips and Inversions

This workshop focuses on hip opening and inversion techniques designed to designed to strengthen and open the upper and lower body.

The workshop begins with a warm up vinyasa class that will focus on creating heat in the lower body. After the class, students will go into their hip circuit, through a series of repeated hip opening postures. Different variations of each pose will be offered. Each hip circuit will be interspersed with inversions and arm balances designed to compliment the hip opening practice. Students will learn proper shoulder techniques, focal points, and will utilize their bandhas to deepen control and strength during their inversion. Although inversions seem intimidating, this workshop is designed for all levels, and will utilize tools and variations that allow every student to face the fear and disorientation of being upside down.

People in western culture often have tight and closed hips for a variety of reasons; we sit all day in front of a computer, we slouch when we type or text, or we simple feel stressed and overwhelmed. In yoga, hip opening postures allow students to become more aware and open in their lower body.

We believe the body is the bridge to love. Through a combination of breath work and asana (yoga postures) we will explore and reconnect to our hips and pelvis.

About Inversions
Inversion postures develop muscular strength, and allow for increased blood flow to the brain. A variety of fun arm balancing transitions will be part of the workshop, and are designed to support and strengthen the entire bodyntimidating, this workshop is designed for all levels, and will utilize tools and variations that allow every student to face the fear and disorientation of being upside down.

Jared McCann Vinyasa classes

Jared McCann Vinyasa classes aim to break attachments, create energy, vitality, and purify both mind and body. Breathing becomes a meditation and is utilized to create space from the inside out. Teachers focus on creating balance with the body’s strength and flexibility. JM Vinyasa aims to clear blockages in the central channel, speaking to the major Chakras in the body.

Jared McCann is an international yoga teacher and former world asana champion. He has spent over a decade teaching, and has studied under acclaimed yoga masters such as Sri Dharma Mittra, Mary Jarvis, and Anna Forrest. Jared has taught hundreds of students how to have a sustainable, every day backbend practice. He is committed to spinal health and evolution
