Hannah Lawson Violin & Music Lessons

Hannah Lawson, director of orchestras at Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School in Chicago, Illinois, has performed extensively as an orchestral and chamber musician. Prior to her relocation in Chicago, she worked with grades 6-12 in Swansboro, North Carolina. For four years she was an active member of Bowling Green State Universities Philharmonia and Chamber orchestras while working towards a bachelors degree of music education. In 2009 she served as concertmaster for the Chamber ensemble. Most recently, she was granted the opportunity to sit as concert-mistress for the Saint Xavier University orchestra during their chamber concert where they performed movements from the Holberg Suite.

Born in Maumee, Ohio Ms. Lawson was surrounded by great musicians and performance opportunities. Under the direction of Dr. Penny Thompson Kruse (professor of violin at Bowling Green State University), she was guided to become a professional musician since the age of 12. She was an active member of the Toledo Youth Orchestra from 2001-2006, Ohio Regional Orchestra from 2002-2006, and participated in Ohio All State Orchestra in 2003-2004. As the daughter of an Orchestra Director, Ms. Lawson was encouraged to fulfill a career in music education and continue a legacy that has been passed down for generations.

In addition to teaching classical technique, she enjoys new trends in string edification. In June 2011, she held the first McAuley Fiddle Camp where students of various ages learned famous fiddle tunes and held a performance for parents on the final day. As a member of IMEA, she has also helped coach students through regional and state orchestra competitions, accompanied several students to solo and ensemble adjudication, and attends the conference in Peoria every year.
